ABOUT
When twelve-year-old Mila is chosen as a volunteer at a magic show, she is sent into a trance and forced to overcome a number of horrifying obstacles or forever accept her fate as the magician's puppet.
SLICED is a horror coming-of-age film that serves as a metaphor about the inevitable pains that come with growing up. A cross between Jan Svankmajer’s ALICE, Guillermo del Toro’s PAN’S LABYRINTH, and the 1978 horror cult classic MAGIC, the film merges realism and surrealism, live action and stop motion animation, real life situations and fantastical obstacles. The result will be a film brimming with stunning visuals, a distinct color pallet, and intricate characters.
Mila and Mrs. Slice are both strangers to each other… or so they thought. Mila knows of Mrs. Slice and her magic shows. As a magic fan herself, Mila is very excited about going to see Mrs. Slice perform. Mrs. Slice, on the other hand, is looking forward to the encounter for a very different reason. As a supernatural being (like Santa Clause or the Grim Reaper), Mrs. Slice exists to accomplish a specific goal: to initiate children's’ transition into adulthood. Mrs. Slice needs innocent children like Mila to survive. The more children she turns into puppets, the stronger she grows and the better her tricks become. However, if a child escapes, Mrs. Slice’s abilities are weakened.
